Learning comes from every corner and direction, all that is needed is an open eye to see, an open ear to hear and the most important, an open heart and mind to understand. Watch this beautiful mind opening video which I initially happen to receive on what’s up.

The lady speaking in this video is not any preacher or a pastor or a Believer. It’s none other than Sudha Murthy, wife of Narayan Murthy, the co-founder\CEO\Chairman of multibillion dollar tech giant Infosys. After watching this video, I went on to check more of her works and videos on the internet. I being believer of Christ was truly humbled by watching her simplicity, her meekness, her knowledge and understanding on various topics of life. Truly, an Inspirational woman for Believers and for our present day society.

Did you notice how beautiful Sudha Murthy explains about the values that we need to build in our children? She can buy an entire 5-star hotel, yet she talks of just spending for samosa (a famous Indian delicacy snack) and Juice for her own Son’s Birthday. She cleans the dishes and makes her children inclusive of that work. She on purpose takes her children to remote tribal villages along with her, so she can show her children what true life is all about, to show how life is difficult for many. Just question yourself; how many of us would have done this being in her position, especially when you have millions of dollars to spend. Truly it’s very hard to find such women of integrity even in the circle of Believers. The Bible therefore says, A wise\virtuous women is more precious than Rubies\Jewels and she is a crown to her Husband (Proverbs 12:4) (Proverbs 31:10-31). What amazes me is, Sudha Murthy is not a believer and doubt if she has ever read the Bible. Yet her understanding and meekness in these worldly matters can easily beat any church going believers.

It is so unfortunate to see that most of the believers in Christ don’t even know how to bring up their children in Godly ways and they themselves lack discipline, knowledge & understanding of God’s Word. In-fact what you heard on the video is the very thing the Bible teaches us, and even more to it. It’s high time to get back on the right track, especially for young parents. It’s high time to teach our children the discipline and value system that Bible teaches. Most importantly, teaching the habit to Read, Study and depend on God’s word is of utmost importance. Talking to our children about Bible and its value, Its authority and authenticity, is of prime importance. The meekness, the integrity, the attitude of gratitude and sacrifice that’s seen in Sudha Murthy has truly humbled me and I strongly believe this is how Jesus would like each one of His children to be like.

I have seen parents who don’t even know the importance of having Children. Have seen parents giving heed to all the asks of their children blindly. Have seen parents who don’t even teach or correct their children when they misbehave. Have observed parents who unnecessary and in vain become over concerned and over protective about their children. Have witnessed Christian believers who take Joy in perishable things and impart the same teachings and values to their children. We should never let an attitude of pride & laziness creep into our children’s character but instead try to build an attitude of meekness, courage & hard work. Spoon feeding our children in all things at all the times will not make good future generations, and will never make a good believer of Christ.

For God, it cost His own Son to redeem and bring salvation to this world. Why…? Because for God, no soul or sinner should perish, Soul is of the UTMOST PRIORITY to God (John 3:16) (Luke 15:7). Now every soul comes into this world through parents, and so it becomes imperative for us as parents to be greatly responsible for these young budding souls. Children’s are a blessing from God to parents. We as parents are the custodians of their life for their initial days. So it becomes very very important for us to feed them with the right values of life, nurture them with the spiritual food they need for the rest of their life, and most important, make them stand on the firm foundation of the Word Of God, so they may not turn to the left or right when they start to see the charms and temptations of this World.  I feel God would definitely question the parents during judgement for as to what role they played in their children’s life for the spiritual upbringing.

The Bible talks at many places about upbringing of our children’s. Below are few important ones that we need to reflect upon.

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Proverbs 22:15

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

Proverbs 29:15

Correct (Discipline) your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.

Proverbs 29:17

Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die.

Proverbs 23:13

You shall teach them (the commandments of the Lord) diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Deuteronomy 6:7

At last but not the least, we need to be examples to our children, they learn the most by seeing us. Make sure to plant the Attitude of Gratitude in your child. Teach, talk and share with them the significance of Loving, Caring & Sharing for others. I once read somewhere, In a corporate world, if you want to be successful as a manager, then learn the art of saying NO…. the same rule applies to us as parents, learn to say No to your child and teach them the difference between the needs and wants. All parents want their children’s to have riches and honor and life in abundance. See what the Bible says, this would be the most most important thing that any one and everyone needs to teach to their children and to oneself, and that is – To remain Humble and Fear God.

The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life.
